Pinholes were the photo-taking method that really got me interested in the definition of a photograph. Can an image that is distorted and the result of "luck" still be considered a fine photograph? Most of my pinholes have scratches and general "schmutz" on them owing to the film I use (lithographic). I like their "dirty" quality. A lot of people wouldn't.
